UNLOCKING THE GATE IN GETHSEMANE
As we reflect on the Passion of Jesus Christ, we are reminded and enlightened by the depth of His unconditional love for us. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” (Matthew 26: 38-46) SUMMARY OF THE LESSON: After reading this passage about Jesus’ agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, I gave a summary of how Jesus was distressed and overwhelmed by the coming horror of dying on the cross for our sins. On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus faced His own overwhelming trial. He knew what lay ahead—betrayal, suffering, and death. And yet, He chose to pray.
